Legislation Summary(HR 2159 Rep. Peter King/S 1317 Senator Frank Lautenberg). Provides U.S. Department of Justice oversight and discretion, subject to judicial review, to block sales of firearms to terror suspects. FBI currently has no authority to block firearm sales to terror suspects. Since 9/11, thousands of people on the terror watch list have attempted to purchase guns and explosives. More than 90% of the people on the terror watch list who applied to purchase guns were successful. If you are too dangerous to get on a plane you should not automatically be entitled to purchase a firearm.
